Now that Day One is behind us and Im prepared for another long day of score keeping for the 2011 USBC. Twenty more Baristas will be competing to make it to the Semi-Finals on Saturday. I have to commend Marcus Boni and his team for setting the bar high this year in getting started and staying on time. Imagine the challenge of working with over 46 competitors and keeping track of over thirty judges.
If you ever wondered why they have separate rooms behind the event venue to hold competitors, Judges and yes the score keepers you now know why. Remember that the first two days of competition only includes baristas that did not come in first place in there regional competition. The six regional winners have a bye and will compete in the semi-finals on Saturday than the top six will move forward to the finals. The Finals happen Sunday and the highest scoring Barista will become the United States Barista Champion. The Champion will represent the US in the WBC (World Barista Competition) in June.
Day One saw some great baristas compete and Day Two should reflect the same. These competitors are some of the best that the US has to offer. Get online and support them as they compete.
