Learn More About This Coffee

Bolivia’s output of coffee is very small compared to neighboring coffee producing countries. While we are used to hearing figures in the millions of exportable bags, 2025 saw Bolivia with only roughly 80,000 bags of production. As a result, we feel lucky every time we are able to secure these unique and wonderful coffees. Rare birds indeed.
Edwin Huanca is a second-generation farmer located in the Caranavi region and has a roughly 14 hectare or 34 acre farm. This is quite small, however, nearly 90% of all producers in Bolivia have farms of 8 hectares or less. Peak harvest occurs in July and August. Cherries are meticulously picked and sorted to preserve quality. The coffee is fully washed and dried on site before being shipped to La Paz for dry milling.
