Mats & Matcha: A Cozy Winter Spin on Social Sips at the Roastery

We love to create moments that bring people together. Our blossoming partnership with ATL Friends has brought so many moments of connection through their Social Sips events: laid-back gatherings designed to help people meet, hang out, try something fun, all while connecting over great coffee in a low-pressure, welcoming environment.

Social Sips

Social Sips began on the Decatur Dancing Goats® patio, traveled to the Ponce City Market porch, and later the Buckhead café. Each location brought its own energy, but as the weather cooled, we found ourselves asking: how do we keep this going indoors without losing the magic? That question sparked the idea for Mats & Matcha.

This cozy winter edition of Social Sips invited ATL Friends into our Dancing Goats® Roastery for an energizing Pilates class, surrounded by floor-to-ceiling shelves of coffee beans. Fairy lights added a whimsical touch, transforming the industrial space into something warm, unexpected, and truly special.

Matcha Mindfulness

After class, the experience shifted from movement to mindfulness with a matcha-making tutorial led by Samantha, a veteran barista from our Buckhead café, while guests sipped on Firepot Tea matcha lattes. Her tutorial gave insights into matcha’s origins, cultivation, and health benefits, while also exploring different preparation techniques that you can use at home. Each guest went home with a printed guide to keep the experience going beyond the event.

The night wrapped up with sipping, snacking, photos, and conversation, plus healthy bites from Crave Well. The roastery buzzed with cozy, communal energy—the kind that reminds us why we love hosting these gatherings in the first place.

Mats & Matcha is about connection, curiosity, and shared experience—and it’s only the beginning. With ideas like Mats & Mocktails and creating more demos, sound lounges, open mic nights, how-to clinics and ... dance classes?! on the horizon, there’s plenty more to come.

Stay tuned—we can’t wait to welcome you back. ☕✨
