Panama Esmeralda's final roast is scheduled for December 17th!
The Panama Esmeralda Special is one of the world's most outstanding coffees. Grown on the Petersen family farm, Hacienda La Esmeralda, in Western Panama; it is a 100% Geisha variety coffee that has won first place in every competition it has ever entered.
Hacienda La Esmeralda has been in the Petersen family since 1996 and is located in Jarmillo, Boquete. Some years ago, the Petersens discovered a small valley at one end of the farm that produced a particularly exceptional cup. Price Petersen says the secret is due to the "result of climate (cold), variety (Geisha), careful harvesting and inventive processing". They named this coffee the Esmeralda Special and it has been captivating coffee enthusiasts ever since.
The Esmeralda is a coffee which defies a simple description. In the cup you will find a myriad of tastes: juicy, brilliant acidity; mango, pineapple, papaya and coconut flavors with vanilla and spice cake, cinnamon, nutmeg and hints of rum. It is silky smooth and sweet as candy.
